The Lone Truther also notes that Mexico and all those countries in South America have their own health care systems, some of which rank higher than ours. For reasons not entirely clear, it seems to me that the American polity is overly timid about changing our institutions. Jefferson would be astounded to learn that we've made it this far without another revolution and simply would not believe how little the system has changed in two centuries. I just wrote a post on the U.S. Senate itself. I argue that it was designed with discordant goals and that it should be more like the European Council in the EU in representing State governments. Except that, the setting in which I drink coffee definitely affects what I prefer to drink it from. A mountain cabin, for example, calls for an 'old cup' or, if the morning is cold, for something large and insulated enough to keep a sitting man content for some time before requiring a refill. A fine resturant requires an entirely different kind up cup; and coffee in my car... well... a goblet just won't do. What!
