With only a year to go in the Bush Administration it is becoming clear to me that he is not going to appoint me to the Supreme Court. This inexplicable failing on his part recently led me to conclude that I would have to run for the Republican presidential nomination. This seemed like a fine idea given that none of the declared candidates can gain any momentum.
But someone has now told me that my views about illegal immigration are too humane, my post about silly lawsuits too factual and my foreign affairs stances too sensible for me to appeal to the “Republican base.”
This is disappointing because my plan was to get the nomination, win the presidency then modernize the Republican Party and bring it into the 20th Century.
I suppose, since I’ve already blown another opportunity, I might as well add to my numerous shortcomings and tell you that the war on drugs has failed. We need to do something different. But don’t take my word for it. Here is an excellent, exhaustive article on that subject.
